Paksi Közlekedési Kft. and Protheus Holding Zrt. staff members presented the citywide transport and energy plans of Paks as part of an EU project on 10 December 2020. Along an all-day series of exciting professional lectures, the international audience had the opportunity to follow the entire process of reorganizing the local public transport from the planning phase to project success all the way through. István Király, the professional manager in charge of passenger transport at Paksi Közlekedési Kft., provided a deep insight into the mysteries of project preparation and planning. As he explained, public transport, true to its name, needs to be made popular among the public in order to make the city more liveable, and electric buses are a great help in this. Tamás Egri, a senior employee of Protheus Holding Zrt., presented the energy investments aimed at promoting the better utilization of renewable energy sources.

The model for purchasing electric taxi cabs was particularly popular among German, Austrian, French, Spanish, Greek and Romanian participants, and they also learned a lot about smart grids. In the province of Vorarlberg, although there are much more electric cars running on the roads than in our country, the electric grid has not yet been developed, which later led to serious disruptions. This is why the Protheus project provided them with several important lessons.

During the meeting, there was also discussion of the professional and financial background of transport development projects and the legal issues of e-mobility by dr. György Molnár, Director of Passenger Transport and Technical Development of Volán Egyesülés. Organized within the framework of E-MOB Interreg Europe Project, the mini conference was held with the participation of Paksi Közlekedési Kft. and with EU and Hungarian funding.
