What can Interreg Europe projects achieve – Action Plans in a nutshell

Supporting exchange of experience between European regions is the primary goal of project E-MOB. The partnership, as demonstrated by Paks Transportation Ltd. on the 10th December 2020 during the 3rd Peer Review, showcase their experiences in terms electric transportation, electrical grids, support systems, legal framework and strategies related to the transport sector. These so-called Good Practices along with the recommendations made by the local and national stakeholder group are formed into an Action Plan. The purpose of this document is to propose improvements to the chose policy instrument, in our case the Integrated Transport Development Operational Programme Plus, which allows us to apply interregional experiences in a local context.

The range of information shared by partners was extremely wide. Most of the participants already had relevant experience regarding the procurement, operation and maintenance of electric bus fleets, while considerations regarding the electrical grid, the spatial and time patterns of loads, charging infrastructure and grid capacities also played an important role including the planning and modelling of such ingredients. In terms of the ITDOP Plus the main topic was electric buses, but information feeding into Municipal projects were also of interest. Given the fact the wide array of experiences, we did not recommend one single Good Practice to be adapted, but rather summarizing all the different aspects, we undertook the creation of a Guideline supporting local electrical transportation projects and investments by offering an interregional outlook and experiences.

Our secondary goal based on our local stakeholder discussion was to highlight synergies between different policy instruments. Electric transportation is quite diverse field, however underlying interconnections should be taken into account with other investments and projects such as renewable energy sources and smart grids that also will receive significant support in the future. As energy production and storage is an important cornerstone regarding electric mobility, they should be therefore a vital component or aspect in mobility project as well and be part of a bigger, coherent system, that allows these elements to be developed in one direction. The Guideline will offer some insights in this territory and will show the potentials to secure and long-standing future developments.
