On 4 December 2020, János Süli, Minister without Portfolio responsible for the expansion of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, and Péter Szabó, the Mayor of the City of Paks, jointly watched the alternatively powered electric bus fleet procured from sources under Grant Agreement ID No. IKOP-3.2.0-15-2016-00020 and transferred for operation to Paksi Közlekedési Kft.
As previously reported, 10 fully electric buses manufactured by Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. arrived in Paks in the second and third quarters of 2020. With these vehicles, the city administration intends to upgrade the scheduled local public transport within the administrative boundaries of Paks. The city entrusted our company with this task.
As János Süli put it, the goal was to make Paks a smart and green city. A phasing out of diesel-powered local bus services from the city streets while the new service is getting launched will be a significant step in this process. By operating additional frequencies and involving parts of the settlement not previously covered by public transport services, our company would like to contribute to the effort to allow as many people as possible to leave their cars at home without giving up comfort, thus reducing congestion on the city roads.
Mayor Péter Szabó informed the people of the city in the press that the buses would soon appear all over Paks, as the test operation of the means of public transport that would provide the service in the future was about to start.
