6th peer review was held in Koprivnica via an online platform during the COVID-19 pandemic. During peer review, Koprivnica presents examples of electromobility infrastructure that is implemented in the city. Peer review started at 9:00 with a Welcome and short introduction. After that, measures for promoting e-mobility in small and mid-sized cities are presented as well as plans for charging infrastructure in small and mid-sized cities form a public authority perspective. Peer review ended at 12:15 PM.
First we have been introduce to a project implemented with the Regional Energy Agency North. AC chargers were installed in public lighting poles that allows people living in block houses to have access to public charging facilities while also provide an easy option for installating such infrastructure without the need for more costly investments.
This have been followed by an introduction to the developments in public transportation. Koprivnica, a small city with roughly 30,000 did not have any kind of local public transportation facilities before, so the Municipality decided to implement a cost-effective and simple solution. This happened to be the electrification of two used buses accounting for a total of 200,000 EUR investment, which included the procurement of the buses and the conversion to an electric powertrain. Of course this is more of a demonstration and testing project, than a long-term solution, altough the advantages are clear.
The Municipality taking into account the limited technical and financial opportunities, cooperates with the local University North and the Energy Agency to implement small-scale project, that will provide the technical basis for future, larger scale investments and allow for gaining limited, but very useful experience for reference for future development projects.
